ECONOVA (For Nature, For People)
Moradabad · Uttar Pradesh · January to March 2026
Three Moradabad schools, two parks and 235 native and medicinal saplings. Five students in every school are Tree Monitors, and keeping them alive is their job. Eighty-eight per cent of the saplings made it.

The work
Young people run it
Fourteen of them led the sessions, the drives and the rally, on a small stipend as Youth Ambassadors rather than as volunteers on a Sunday.
Go where the pollution lands
Marginalised neighbourhoods carry the worst of the air and the water and get the least teaching about either. That is where the sessions went.
Somebody has to water it
Five Tree Monitors per school own the watering and the checking. Survival is the deliverable here, not the planting photograph.
Cheap enough for the next mohalla
Posters, saplings, a rally and a stipend. Nothing in the model needs a budget the next neighbourhood cannot find.
- Ran poster competitions, awareness sessions and plantation drives in three Moradabad schools
- Planted in two parks with local youth — about forty saplings in one and seventy-two in the other
- Held a youth-led awareness rally through the neighbourhood
- Appointed five Tree Monitors in each school to water and check the saplings
- Put fourteen Youth Ambassadors — Zaid, Ansh and Somya among them — on a small stipend to lead the sessions themselves
