Exposure Walks

How it runs

The manual gives this session no step list. What it does give is below.

Forest Walk, pitched to the age of the students and the size of the batch.

Duration – 3-4 hours

Delhi is one of the greenest capital cities in the world and the air in it is filthy. Both are true at once, and a forest walk is where students feel that contradiction instead of reading about it. Sanjay Van, the Asola Bhatti wildlife sanctuary, the Okhla bird sanctuary — city forests, reachable on a school morning, with far more living in them than students expect. Go with somebody who knows the plants and birds by name; a walk with a guide is a different event from a walk. Any city can do this. The nearest ridge, reserve forest, riverbank or old park with real trees in it will do.

Talking about it

Discussion points, worked examples and the handouts the manual prints with this session.

Where this comes from

Bridge the Gap is a compilation. This is what the manual records for this session.

The manual prints no source for this session. It is published here as Swechha has used it, adapted over years of classroom work; if you recognise its origin, tell us and we will credit it.

Before you start sets out where the compendium as a whole comes from.
