Monsoon Wooding 2019

Our team raised resources to plant over 8000 native trees across Delhi/NCR this monsoon. Our campaign took off this year with a plantation of 1000 native trees at the DC Residence in Gurgaon! We have been working on developing this space since 2015, and today this forest is home to over 3000 native trees and over urban self sustainable fruit forests. Our plantations over the last decade, have seen a survival rate of 80-90 percent.

This year, through the monsoon months of July -October, Swechha planted over 8000 trees and created over 10 urban forests (our biggest, most successful campaign till date!) with the support of several volunteers, citizens of Delhi, young school going students and community members.

Our plantations for this years campaign were carried out at the following locations within Delhi/NCR –

  1. Goradia Nature Park, Dhouj Faridabad
  2. DC Residence Gurgaon
  3. Jahapana City Forest
  4. Gobind Sadan Farms Chattarpur
  5. Bal Bhawan ITO
  6. New Era Public School Dwarka
  7. Shakarpura Village Ghaziabad

Apart from this, we at Swechha have also been working with several schools across the city in the creation of upcycled butterfly and herb gardens as part of our schools program initiatives. In the last 4 months, we have created 20 such green infrastructures built completely out of waste, in 20 schools within Delhi/NCR.

Thank you to the citizens of Delhi who supported us through the campaign and helped us add to Delhi’s green cover this monsoon, helping our city breathe a little better!
