CineGreen was a year long environmental education in schools initiative, facilitated in association with American Express and in partnership with PVR Nest, Samhita and Swechha India, across 70 schools in Delhi. The program focused on promoting a culture of environmental engagement and responsible civic action among its young student participants and future leaders.

CineGreen’s ‘knowledge-awareness-action’ approach was carried out through over 70 hands on workshops in over 70 schools, focused on issues on environment, climate change and sustainability, in particular, themes such as water conservation, air pollution and importance of urban green spaces, and their link to the overall impact social, economic and political climate of India.

Over 20 exposure visits and ecological walks to spaces such as Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary, Sanjay Van, Yamuna Biodiversity Park, as well as Swechha’s very own Yamuna Walk, helped generate a sense of collective ownership among the student participants, toward their city’s major environmental issues, and enabled them as future change-makers, to not only experience these issues first hand, but also to identify methods and strategies of developing a more sustainable, environment friendly long term future action plan for communities, for schools and for urban spaces such as Delhi that are today facing some of the biggest environmental threats and challenges, causing irreversible damages to our environment and ecosystem, on the path to what is considered as ‘development’ in todays world.

We collectively concluded our CineGreen Virtual Grand Finale on August 12, 2020, with over 1200+ viewers in attendance across various social media platforms. The grand finale featured the screening of the CineGreen Journey Film, the 10 one minute films made by these students, their collective experiences throughout the year long program, testimonials from the various stakeholders and direct beneficiaries as well as addresses by each of the partners and a key note speech by Bahar Dutt!
