This past Saturday a group of youth volunteers from S&P Global got together with our team to clean up huge piles of mess and litter that have been left behind on the banks of the river at Kudsia Ghat near Kashmere Gate. Religious waste, food waste, plastic waste, waste of all kinds that had been left unattended, was collected by the team and together with the support of the local municipality, we were able to clear up a small part of the flood banks of the river. Its not just about putting in these 4-5 hours to clean up and act as responsible and accountable citizens, its equally about effective and efficient governance that needs to be implemented, about more awareness and mobilisation that needs to continue to take place on ground and about making well thought out choices and choosing to be well informed over being ignorant.
