Greening Delhi, Park by Park
Delhi, the capital city is one of the most polluted cities in the world. Ironically, the city with this lethal air quality is home to more than 18,000 parks and gardens spread over 8000 hectares in various locations. In order to address the issue of air pollution in Delhi, Swechha in collaboration with The American Embassy is going to transform some of these parks into Airshed development hubs of their respective localities. These parks would then act as the lungs of the neighborhood by purifying the air around to counter the pollution. An airshed typically is an area within which the air frequently is confined or channeled, with all parts of the area thus being subject to similar conditions of air quality.
This journey of reclaiming the parks of the city has started with the adoption of a park in Vasant Kunj.
